The Bethlehem Walk: December 11, 12, 13, 2009
Bethlehem Walk is an annual event presented by First United Methodist Church, in Escondido, California, with the cooperation of other local churches, as a gift to the community. During this event, open areas on the church grounds are converted to a replica of Bethlehem village as it might have been at the time of Christ. When you visit Bethlehem Walk, you will be taken on a guided excursion through this village.
You find yourself back in time two thousand years. You are escorted by one of our friendly guides, who sees you safely through Bethlehem and protects you from unfriendly Roman occupiers. You are warmly received by the residents of Bethlehem. After your visit through the village, you return to the 21st century, where you are greeted with refreshments and Christmas music.
The Bethlehem Walk occurs Friday through Sunday evening during the second weekend of December. For many families, Bethlehem Walk has become a traditional part of their Christmas celebration.
If you would like to advance beyond visiting Bethlehem Walk and become a part of the presentation, we would love to have you join us. You need not be a member of the First United Methodist Church. In fact, recent years have seen the increasing involvement of volunteers from a number of area churches in planning and presenting this event. If you wish to become a participant, call our Church Office at (760) 745-5100 and they will forward your desire to the Bethlehem Walk coordinator. You may also send an e-mail to bwchairman@fumcesc.com to contact the coordinator directly.
